Financial Impact of Outdoorsmen
Attention Hunters and Fisherman,
You should be voicing your opinions to your congressman, as we "Outdoorsman", as I like to call us Hunters and Fisherman, if we unite the $3.35 Billion for hunting, and $2.14 Billion for fishing, amounts to $5.5 Billion dollars that "we " sportsman spent in 2005, making it clearly #1, which can clearly give us a say in how we are represented throughout the USA and Canada. Please use these numbers when you are contacting your congressman, as we sportsman are mostly taken for granted (or so it seems), as few of us ever seem inclined to complain about how game laws and seasons are set.
Take action today!!!! Let your public officials know your opinions!!!!!!

If shopping for athletic and sports equipment were an Olympic event, the bronze medal would go to America's hunters and shooters. Golfers would claim silver while workout buffs would take gold. New statistics show that hunting gear and firearm sales topped $3.3 billion in 2005. Only golf and exercise equipment performed better, with sales of $3.4 and $5.2 billion, respectively, according to data just released by the National Sporting Goods Association. Hunting and firearm sales grew 6 percent from the previous year, which is two times better than the athletic and sports equipment market performed as a whole. Within the hunting and firearms category, hunting footwear sales saw a 7 percent increase, and sales of hunting-related apparel saw a 4 percent gain. Shotgun sales increased by 10.5 percent for a total of $667.9 million, handgun sales rose 8.5 percent to $630.7 million and rifle sales were up 2.7 percent to $849.2 million.
"What the Subcommittee on the Constitution uncovered was clear--and long-lost--proof that the second amendment to our Constitution was intended as an individual right of the American citizen to keep and carry arms in a peaceful manner, for protection of himself, his family, and his freedoms."
-- Senator Orrin Hatch, 97th Congress.
